I'm back!
Well, it seems there *IS* life out there after all ...
So - may as well jump straight back in from where I left off many moons ago.
Family:
Aron is growing bigger and heavier every week. He's 5 months old on Sunday, and weight close on 8kg already. We started him on solids a couple of weeks ago as it appeared that milk was no longer satiating his large frame. So far he's had: Apple, Pear, Banana, Potato, Carrot, Fenchel, Pumpkin.
Travel:
While we've not really been _anywhere_ since Aron was born, we're heading off to Cape Town in 3 weeks time. We'll be there for 17 days, coinciding with a visit by my brother and his family (they live in Calgary, Canada). Will be nice to be all together for about 10 days.
Work:
Things are going well - pretty busy really ... I'm migrating our systems to a new release of software I wrote, and as always, finding interesting never-before-seen bugs in obscure places (ie, a few VPNs suddenly don't work no mo' - I narrowed it down to the ipfw pipe in ipfw2, which isn't an issue in ipfw1 ... go figure).
Life:
Last week our car started making a rattling sound, as if something was loose .. A day later, it sounded worse - like a diesel. I thought perhaps there was a hole in the exhaust. Called the garage, took it in on Monday, and they said it looks like the whole engine needs to be replaced!
The car is only 6 years old, 116000km, original owner, properly serviced, etc....
I took it back today to be opened up, and am awaiting the final verdict as to whether it's salvable. If not, it'll be rather an expensive exercise indeed.
Went cycling on Sunday, but it was around 0°C and I was underdressed ... I'm now sick :-(
